Their system is web-based and designed around a robust search engine on two websites that enable users to hone in on channel partners (intermediaries) with very little effort. The service is free for businesses to search but there is a nominal fee for the channel intermediaries (sales reps, agents, brokers, distributors, and wholesalers) that wish to be listed in the directory.
RepSearch is the first site under the Channel Links umbrella and is geared toward manufactures' reps, agents, and brokers. Users can select exactly what type of sales reps they're looking for in the search fields displayed on the left side of the page. The search engine is free and gives the users the ability to screen results by industry classification, territory, and keywords. Although the search engine is what drives the business, users can also read articles about outsourced sales and find sample contracts for engaging manufacturers' reps.
DistiSearch is the second site owned by Channel Links and targets distributors and wholesalers. This site has much of the same functionality as RepSearch, but the content is more specific to business that distribute product (buy and resell) as opposed to representing a product (sell for commissions). Although there is a little overlap, both sites seek to serve both distributors and reps separately.
Channel Links, Inc. is looking to the future by developing a lead generation system for the channel intermediaries that list in their directories. The system is expected to let directory members know which business are looking at their profiles in real time, thus enabling them to be proactive in recruiting new lines.
